STI Opens 0.35% Higher As DBS Leads Singapore Banks Up

Singapore shares opened higher on Thursday, with the Straits Times Index (STI) rising 19.31 points or 0.35% to 5,600.68 as DBS Group Holdings led gains among the major banks.

As at 9.07am, 85 counters had advanced against 112 decliners, with 51.75 million shares changing hands for a total value of S$190.84 million.

DBS rose S$1.15 or 1.56% to S$74.70, extending its gains after the bank reported a record second-quarter net profit of S$3.08 billion and raised its full-year guidance.

OCBC Bank gained S$0.07 to S$28.87, while UOB added S$0.09 to S$43.29. Singapore Exchange rose S$0.07 to S$23.87, while Singtel was up S$0.01 at S$4.34.

Among other actively traded counters, YZJ Shipbldg SGD rose S$0.04 to S$3.94, while AvePoint gained S$0.17 to S$17.27.

In the derivatives market, total volume stood at 14,360 contracts as at 8.55am. The FTSE China A50 Index Futures for August 2026 stood at 14,892 points, while Nikkei 225 Index Futures for September 2026 was at 65,250 points.

The SGX FTSE Taiwan Index Futures for August 2026 stood at 3,809.50 points, while the MSCI Singapore Index Futures for August 2026 was at 519.10 points.
