Nurul Izzah Asked To Take A Break

PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar is expected to take a break from her party responsibilities to pursue her studies, rather than step down permanently from the position she won in last year’s party election, PKR information chief and government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said.

Fahmi said the decision followed discussions within the party after Nurul Izzah indicated that she intended to resign from her party positions.

“She will take a break to pursue her studies,” Fahmi said at a press conference, adding that the arrangement would allow her to focus on her education while retaining her position in the party.

Nurul Izzah, the eldest daughter of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was elected PKR deputy president at the party’s leadership elections in May 2025. She succeeded Rafizi Ramli in the post.

Her election win came amid a deep rift in the party, with high profile resignation including Rafizi Ramli and former Environment Minister Nik Nazmi.
