Sime Darby Property Bhd has filed an appeal against High Court decisions requiring its wholly owned subsidiary, SDP Klang Sdn Bhd, to refund RM36.23 million to the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) following a land compensation dispute involving land acquired for the West Coast Expressway.
Sime Darby Property said SDP Klang filed a Notice of Appeal with the Court of Appeal on Aug 7 against the High Court decisions delivered on July 10 and July 20, 2026.
The dispute relates to seven plots of land in Bukit Raja, Klang, which were compulsorily acquired in connection with the West Coast Expressway project.
On July 20, the High Court issued consequential orders arising from its earlier decision in the land reference matter. Under the order, SDP Klang is required to refund RM36,234,459.45 to LLM within three months from July 20.
The amount represents compensation that the High Court determined had been paid in excess following the compulsory acquisition of the land.
In addition to the repayment, SDP Klang was ordered to pay interest at 5% per annum on the judgment sum, calculated from July 20 until full settlement.
The latest appeal marks the next stage in the legal proceedings, with Sime Darby Property seeking to challenge the High Court’s decisions at the Court of Appeal.
The company said it will make further announcements should there be any material developments in relation to the land reference matter.
The dispute is not expected to be concluded until the appeal process is determined, although the High Court’s existing orders remain the subject of the proceedings unless otherwise stayed or varied by the relevant court.
