A reactor at a nuclear power plant in central Japan automatically shut down after an alarm indicated a problem with a power generator, Kyodo News reported Sunday.
The No. 3 reactor at the Oi nuclear power plant in Fukui Prefecture stopped operation at around 11:55 p.m. local time on Saturday, according to Kansai Electric Power Co., the plant’s operator.
No radiation leak has been detected at the facility, and no injuries have been reported, the company said.
The operator is investigating the cause of the generator problem and has not determined when the reactor will resume operations.
