‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Is On Track For A Major Box Office Milestone

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is heading for another major weekend at the U.S. box office.

The Sony release is projected to make US$143 million in its second weekend, according to Deadline. If the estimate holds, it would rank as the third-highest second weekend in domestic box-office history.

Only Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with US$149.2 million in 2015, and Avengers: Endgame, with US$147.3 million in 2019, have had bigger second weekends.

The result would also set a new record for Sony. Brand New Day would become the studio’s first film to earn more than US$100 million in its second weekend. The previous record was held by Spider-Man: No Way Home, which made US$84.5 million in its second frame in 2021.

The film is also on track to reach about US$653 million domestically after 10 days. That would give it the biggest 10-day domestic total on record, passing Avengers: Endgame, which reached US$621.2 million over the same period.

Friday provided another boost. Brand New Day took in an estimated US$43 million, up from earlier projections. Premium large-format and IMAX screenings are also accounting for about 33% of the weekend’s business.

The film is expected to lead the domestic box office by a wide margin. The Odyssey is projected to place second with US$30.5 million in its fourth weekend, bringing its domestic total to an estimated US$460.1 million.

The rest of the weekend is more subdued. Universal’s One Night Only is tracking toward a US$6 million opening, while Super Troopers 3 is expected to take in US$3.9 million.

With a projected US$143 million second weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now positioned to post one of the strongest sophomore frames in U.S. box-office history.
