Nilai assemblyman and DAP national vice-chairman J. Arul Kumar has been unanimously appointed the new DAP Negeri Sembilan chairman, effective today.
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said the appointment was made unanimously by the state DAP committee after he stepped down from the position, which he had held for 22 years since 2004, Bernama reported.
“Arul Kumar’s selection is something I feel is very positive and proves that DAP is a multiracial party. We look at a person based on his qualifications and ability to lead.
“I have confidence and trust in the new state committee because our team is experienced, has worked together for a long time and is united. Most importantly, we will continue working hard in every area that we represent,” he told a press conference after chairing the DAP Negeri Sembilan state committee meeting here today.
Loke said Arul Kumar, who previously served as the state party’s vice-chairman, was appointed in accordance with the party’s constitution.
The leadership change comes after Loke vacated the state chairman post following more than two decades at the helm.
