Ticket prices for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia appear to have surfaced online, with Malaysian citizens holding a valid MyKad reportedly able to access three-day tickets starting from RM200.
The ticket information, which has been circulating across social media and motorsport communities, shows six ticket categories for the race weekend at Sepang International Circuit from Oct 2 to 4.
The prices displayed on the circulated ticketing page, inclusive of tax, are:
- G Hillstand: RM200
- B Hillstand: RM809.60
- C Hillstand: RM809.60
- F Grandstand: RM1,291.40
- K1 Grandstand: RM1,386
- Main Grandstand: RM2,083.40
The page states that the rates are exclusively available to Malaysian citizens holding a MyKad, with a verification process in place to ensure the discounted tickets are purchased by eligible individuals.
It further warns that any discounted ticket that does not correspond to a valid MyKad or otherwise fails to meet the eligibility criteria will be invalidated.
The apparent leak also indicates that children aged three to six are entitled to a 25% discount, excluding the G Hillstand, while children under three can enter for free although no seat will be allocated.
The pricing information has yet to be formally confirmed by the organisers. As of Wednesday, the figures were being shared by motorsport fans on social media, with users pointing to ticketing pages associated with the event. A discussion on Reddit on Aug 12 also reproduced the same MyKad eligibility notice and ticket categories, although users noted that the ticket pages were subsequently inaccessible.
The apparent prices come after Sepang International Circuit (SIC) chief executive officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif said last month that ticket pricing for the one-off race would ultimately be determined by Bahrain.
Azhan said SIC was negotiating for more affordable rates for Malaysians and specifically mentioned the possibility of a MyKad price, but stressed that Bahrain would have the final say as it was bearing the Formula 1 hosting rights fee and would receive the ticket sales revenue.
The ticket information had initially been expected to be announced separately after Formula 1 and the FIA confirmed on July 26 that Sepang would host the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia from Oct 2 to 4. At the time, Formula 1 said information on the release of tickets would be announced soon.
The event is being staged as a replacement for the Bahrain round that was called off from its original April date, with the 2026 calendar now listing Sepang as Round 16 between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix.
While the circulated figures provide the clearest indication so far of what Malaysian fans could pay, they should not yet be treated as confirmed final ticket prices until SIC, the Bahrain International Circuit or Formula 1 officially announces ticket sales.
If the leaked figures are ultimately adopted, the RM200 G Hillstand would provide the cheapest three-day option for Malaysian fans, while a three-day Main Grandstand ticket would cost more than RM2,000.
