Seven Areas In Sarawak Record Unhealthy API Readings

Seven areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings as of 8am Thursday amid transboundary haze, down from nine areas recorded at the same time yesterday.

Based on the Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS), Samarahan and Serian recorded the highest API readings at 183 each, followed by Kuching at 177.

Sri Aman recorded an API reading of 159, while Sarikei registered 158. Mukah and Sibu both recorded readings of 152.

An API reading of 101 to 200 is classified as unhealthy, while readings of 201 to 300 are considered very unhealthy and readings above 300 hazardous.

The API is updated hourly based on data from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
