Singapore Stocks End Higher, STI Gains 0.41% To 5,743.59

Singapore stocks closed higher on Aug 14, with the Straits Times Index (STI) gaining 23.54 points, or 0.41%, to 5,743.59, as regional equities drew support from reduced expectations of a near-term US Federal Reserve (Fed) rate hike.

Asian market sentiment had been supported by US inflation data that came broadly in line with expectations and weaker labour-market readings, which tempered expectations for further monetary tightening by the Fed.

The positive close also came against a resilient domestic backdrop after Singapore earlier raised its 2026 economic growth forecast to 4.5%-5.5%, following stronger-than-expected second-quarter growth.
