Alam Maritim Resources Bhd’s Group Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Azmi Ahmad is currently under remand to facilitate an ongoing investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
The offshore marine services provider said the remand was related to the MACC’s ongoing investigation.
The company stressed that the remand does not constitute a finding of wrongdoing against Azmi.
“The remand is for the purpose of facilitating the ongoing investigation and does not constitute any finding of wrongdoing,” the company said.
Notably, in 2009, Alam Maritim a wholly owned subsidiary signed a joint venture agreement with Lembaga Tabung Haji, to jointly finance, own and operate six vessels comprising four anchor handling and tug supply vessel and two accommodation vessels, equipped with high-technology, which supporting deeper water exploration capabilities.
Under the agreement, TH Alam Management was incorporated in 2010 of which AMLI owned 50% stake leaving the balance owned by Lembaga Tabung Haji. Currently, TH Alam is principally involved in ship management and consultancy services in oil and gas industry.
