EPMB’s RM9.5 Million Tanjong Malim Facility To Localise PROTON Chassis Components

EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) has opened a RM9.5 million production facility in Tanjong Malim to localise the manufacturing of key chassis components for selected Proton models, strengthening domestic automotive supply capabilities and reducing reliance on imported parts.

Located within the Automotive High Technology Valley, the facility is operated under Peps Sanly JV Sdn Bhd, EPMB’s joint venture with China-based metalworks, assembly and brake systems specialist Sanly Auto Parts Co Ltd. The plant will support Proton as EPMB builds on a supplier relationship spanning nearly four decades.

Spanning 9,909 sq m, the facility began operations in October 2025 and has capacity to produce 40,000 car sets a month, or up to 480,000 sets annually.

Production will cover front corner modules, subframe modules and rear axle module assemblies for Proton’s AMA01, Persona and Iriz, as well as the upcoming AMA02 and AMA05 models.

EPMB Executive Chairman Hamidon Abdullah said the partnership is aimed at building a more robust and efficient supply chain by tapping Sanly China’s expertise in metalworking, assembly and automotive chassis systems.

He added that the venture would facilitate technology transfer, strengthen local manufacturing capabilities and give EPMB access to China’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem and competitive cost structures, helping it support Proton with better cost efficiency and quality assurance.
