Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan is in Brunei Darussalam for a three-day working visit aimed at advancing bilateral discussions on land and maritime boundaries, economic cooperation and preparations for the 27th Malaysia-Brunei Annual Leaders’ Consultation.
Mohamad is visiting Bandar Seri Begawan from Aug 20 to 22 in conjunction with the 27th Meeting on the Implementation of the Exchange of Letters between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam (EOL-27) on Aug 21, followed by the 27th Annual Leaders’ Consultation (ALC-27) on Aug 22.
During his time there, the minister will co-chair EOL-27 with his Bruneian counterpart Dato Seri Setia Erywan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Mohd Yusof.
The meeting serves as a key bilateral mechanism for managing outstanding issues, exploring new areas of cooperation and reviewing progress on agreements reached during last year’s leaders’ consultation.
Both ministers are expected to take stock of developments involving land and maritime boundaries, while also discussing measures to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.
Brunei was Malaysia’s sixth-largest trading partner within ASEAN in 2025, with total trade valued at US$1.37 billion (RM5.86 billion).
For the first six months of 2026, bilateral trade stood at US$600 million.
