Visitors heading to the National Day celebrations in Melaka can use 30 buses and 90 shuttle vans provided free of charge across 13 pick-up points from August 29 to 31.
The services will support the CIMIC Melaka 2026 Carnival and the state-level National Day celebration at Dataran 1Malaysia Klebang, with the state government expecting between 50,000 and 80,000 visitors on August 31.
State Health, Human Resources and Unity Committee chairman Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem said the shuttle network will cover locations including The Sail Gallery, Residensi PR1MA, the Submarine Museum, Dataran 1Malaysia Klebang and the Royal Malaysian Navy exhibition.
Other pick-up points include SMK Klebang Besar, Masjid Al-Amin, Hotel Courtyard, Kota Bendahari commercial area, the roadside near Eye On Melaka, Taman Limbongan Jaya, Taman Syahbandar and Taman Kota Laksamana commercial complexes.
The shuttle services will begin from 6pm to midnight on August 29 for the Melaka Berselawat programme. On August 30, services will run from 6pm to 1am for the Merdeka Eve celebrations.
“For the National Day celebration on August 31, the buses and shuttle vans will operate from 4am to 7am and from noon to 3pm,” Ngwe said.
He said the free transport was intended to ease visitor movement while helping maintain smoother traffic flow throughout the three-day programme.
The celebrations will also feature 125 contingents involving 7,790 participants, while 31 vehicles including 11 decorated cars will take part in the parade.
Ngwe added that road closures and diversions would be announced through the Melaka state government’s official social media channels ahead of the event so motorists can plan their journeys.
