Kuala Lumpur is set to become a regional base for AI-driven supply chain innovation as HAVI establishes its first Asia Pacific TechHUB, one of only four such hubs globally.
The hub, which is scheduled to officially open in November, will focus on technologies including AI-enabled demand forecasting, data analytics, automation and IoT-based fleet management to support more responsive logistics operations across the region.
HAVI has already hired 50 technology professionals for the Kuala Lumpur hub since March and expects the team to reach 100 by the end of 2026. The company plans to create up to 150 high-value jobs by mid-2027 across software engineering, AI, cybersecurity, cloud operations, data analytics and product management.
“Malaysia offers the right combination of technology ambition, multilingual talent and regional connectivity to support the next phase of HAVI’s growth in Asia Pacific,” said Reto Sahli, Chief Digital & Information Officer at HAVI.
“Through the Kuala Lumpur TechHUB, we are not only building digital solutions for our customers and operations, but we are also creating opportunities for Malaysian professionals to take on global roles and shape how supply chains evolve across the region.”
The hub will also introduce a talent development programme covering AI, analytics, automation and cloud-based supply chain systems, alongside logistics and leadership training.
Daniela Ribeiro, Director of Technology Transformation at HAVI, said the Kuala Lumpur team will operate as part of the company’s “Follow the Sun” model, working alongside its technology hubs in Lisbon, Chicago and Krakow to maintain continuous development across time zones.
“Our Follow the Sun model means that innovation never stops. As our colleagues in Lisbon complete their day, our team in Kuala Lumpur picks up the thread, ensuring continuous progress, uninterrupted delivery and a constant exchange of ideas and expertise across time zones,” Ribeiro said.
The move comes as Malaysia’s logistics sector undergoes greater digitalisation, driven by e-commerce, supply chain modernisation and demand for automation.
