Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received the Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati (D.K.) from Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, an honour that carries the title Dato Laila Utama.
The investiture ceremony was held during a royal audience at Cheradi Laila Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman, in the presence of Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah.
Anwar was accompanied by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
The Prime Minister and the Malaysian delegation arrived at Istana Nurul Iman at about 11 am.
The royal engagement is part of Anwar’s two-day working visit to Brunei, which began yesterday for the 27th Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Malaysia and Brunei.
As part of the visit, Anwar and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah are expected to witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding on a committee for disaster management cooperation.
