Bursa Malaysia Opens Nearly Flat, KLCI Slips 0.03%

Bursa Malaysia opened almost unchanged on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) edging 0.52 points or 0.03% lower to 1,735.96 as investors remained cautious.

The index moved between an early low of 1,735.14 and a high of 1,739.47 in early trade.

Broader market sentiment was also slightly weaker, with the FBM70 falling 45.74 points or 0.25% to 18,105.30. The F4GBM declined 0.75 points or 0.07% to 1,040.48 while the FBMEMAS eased 8.95 points or 0.07% to 12,823.33.

The FBMSHA slipped 12.28 points or 0.10% to 12,629.51.

Trading activity was led by NEXG, which fell 4.5 sen to 27.5 sen with 412.94 million shares traded. NATGATE gained 11 sen to RM1.52 on 252.19 million shares while AAGB eased 1.5 sen to 79.5 sen after 202.57 million shares changed hands.

PA rose 1.5 sen to 22.5 sen with 185.81 million shares traded, while DNEX slipped 0.5 sen to 50.5 sen on 178.5 million shares.

Among the top gainers, SWKPLNT added 19 sen to RM4.73, followed by SUNCON which rose 17 sen to RM8.07. HEIM gained 16 sen to RM16.32 while PMETAL advanced 16 sen to RM8.05. BAT added 15 sen to RM4.85.

MPI emerged as the biggest decliner, falling RM1.70 to RM41.50. ALLIANZ dropped 44 sen to RM21.84 while KPJ declined 33 sen to RM2.79.

PETDAG slipped 20 sen to RM19.42 and PETGAS fell 20 sen to RM17.40.

At 9.39am, the market data showed 120 gainers against 74 decliners.
