Haze has pushed air quality to unhealthy levels in four states, with Penang among the areas affected as readings climbed above the 100 mark on the Air Pollutant Index (API) this morning.
As of 8 am, Sarawak recorded the most affected areas, with Serian registering the highest reading at 188, followed by Kuching at 175, Samarahan at 169, Sri Aman at 158 and Bintulu at 108.
In Selangor, Johan Setia recorded an API reading of 161 while Kuala Selangor registered 128. Kedah also reported unhealthy readings in Sungai Petani at 155 and Alor Setar at 145, while Penang recorded 134.
According to BuletinTV3, 58 areas nationwide recorded moderate air quality, while no areas recorded good, very unhealthy or hazardous readings as of 8 am.
The Department of Environment (DOE) is monitoring ambient air quality through 68 stations nationwide, with API readings updated hourly.
Readings between 101 and 200 are classified as unhealthy, while 51 to 100 are considered moderate. Levels of 201 to 300 are categorised as very unhealthy, and readings of 301 and above as hazardous.
