Bursa Malaysia ended higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gaining 12.21 points or 0.70% to 1,748.54.
The index moved between an intraday low of 1,735.70 and a high of 1,753.22, as buying interest lifted the broader market.
Other key indices also closed in positive territory. The FBM70 rose 158.98 points or 0.88% to 18,228.22, while the FBM Emas Index added 97.26 points or 0.76% to 12,915.86.
The FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index gained 8.08 points or 0.78% to 1,048.20, while the FBM Small Cap Index increased 37.59 points or 0.30% to 12,666.95.
Trading activity was led by Natgate, which emerged as the most actively traded counter with 1.72 billion shares changing hands. The stock rose 21 sen to RM1.70.
Zetrix followed with 1.05 billion shares traded, closing five sen higher at 66 sen, while Oppstar added 11 sen to 81 sen on 939.73 million shares.
Nihsin rose 3.5 sen to 18 sen after 654.71 million shares were traded, while VS gained half a sen to 22.5 sen with 554.93 million shares changing hands.
Among the top gainers, MPI climbed RM1.18 to RM42.68, followed by KGB which rose 58 sen to RM8.94. YTL Power added 53 sen to RM5.90, while Petronas Dagangan gained 52 sen to RM20.52 and Hong Leong Industries advanced 40 sen to RM17.92.
United Plantations was the biggest decliner, falling 60 sen to RM31.52. Batu Kawan dropped 46 sen to RM20.54, Dutch Lady Milk Industries declined 32 sen to RM31.68, Fraser & Neave eased 24 sen to RM26.30 and Ta Ann Holdings slipped 18 sen to RM6.11.
