Provident Banc Bhd is broadening its role in Malaysia’s financial ecosystem through three strategic partnerships aimed at connecting alternative financing, financial advice, wealth management and employee financial wellness.
The partnerships with MicroLEAP PLT, Holborn Capital Partners Sdn. Bhd. and Peopleperks International Sdn. Bhd., known as HariWang, were formalised through Memoranda of Understanding following a panel discussion on the role of Islamic financing in addressing cost-of-living pressures, digital debt and financial stress.
Rather than focusing solely on access to financing, the initiative brings together different parts of the financial services landscape to support consumers in making more informed financial decisions.
MicroLEAP, a Securities Commission Malaysia-regulated peer-to-peer financing platform, brings alternative financing capabilities into the collaboration. Holborn Capital Partners contributes financial advisory and wealth management services covering areas such as financial planning and investment advice.
Meanwhile, HariWang focuses on workplace financial wellness through Earned Wage Access, allowing employees to access wages they have already earned to manage short-term financial needs.
The partnerships come as digital financial services make it increasingly convenient for consumers to access financing, while rising living costs add pressure to household finances.
Provident Banc executive director Nor Shahmir Nor Shahid said responsible financing goes beyond providing access to funds and includes understanding customers’ needs, helping them make informed decisions and offering transparent and accessible solutions.
The company said the collaborations are intended to expand financial literacy, encourage innovation and provide solutions that create value for customers and communities, reflecting a broader approach to financial services that balances access with responsibility and financial wellbeing.
