Southern Cable Group Bhd recorded a 24.9% year-on-year increase in net profit to RM73.7 million for the first half ended June 30, 2026 (1H26) and declared a first interim dividend of 1.2 sen per share, as robust cable and wire demand continued to drive earnings.
Revenue for 1H26 also rose 18.5% to RM960.3 million from RM810.1 million, with profit growth outpacing revenue growth on improved operational efficiency.
For the second quarter, net profit climbed 28.2% to RM40.6 million from RM31.6 million, while revenue surged 25.8% to RM527.6 million, supported by strong demand from data centres, renewable energy projects, national grid upgrades and construction activity.
Southern Cable’s export business also gained momentum, with overseas revenue jumping 44.3% to RM112.8 million, driven mainly by stronger deliveries to the United States.
As at June 30, the group had RM1.36 billion in orders in hand, to be recognised through 2028, comprising cable and conductor supply contracts for utilities as well as infrastructure, data centre and renewable energy projects.
The group is also expanding production capacity, with cable and wire capacity targeted to rise to 60,000km annually by end-2026 and 65,000km by end-2027. A new copper furnace is expected to lift annual copper rod capacity to 24,000 tonnes by year-end.
The 1.2 sen interim dividend, amounting to RM15.3 million or about 20% of 1H26 net profit, will be paid on Oct 12, 2026.
