Epicon To Appeal High Court Decision On Mareva Injunction In Ibrahim & Son Dispute

Epicon Berhad said it will appeal a Johor Bahru High Court decision concerning a Mareva injunction against Ibrahim & Sons Engineering Sdn Bhd (IBSE) and three other defendants, after the court ruled in favour of the defendants.

The group said the High Court delivered its decision on Sept 2 following an inter partes hearing of the Mareva injunction and the defendants’ application to set it aside.

The court decided the matter in favour of the defendants, with costs, the company said.

Epicon said it will appeal against the decision and apply for a stay on a certificate of urgency at the Johor Bahru High Court.

The litigation involves Epicon’s unit Transnational Builder Sdn Bhd as the plaintiff, with IBSE named as the first defendant.

The other defendants are Zafrin Ibrahim, Zulkflee Ibrahim and Khaeromze Ahmad.

The latest development follows Epicon’s earlier announcements on the litigation dated July 1, July 24, July 27 and Aug 18, 2026.

A Mareva injunction is generally used to restrain a defendant from disposing of or dealing with specified assets pending the resolution of legal proceedings. The Sept 2 ruling concerns the injunction and the application to set it aside, rather than a determination of the underlying suit itself.

Epicon said it will make further announcements should there be any material developments in the matter.
