Exchange 106 in Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) has transitioned from its former Malaysia Digital (MD) Cybercentre status to MD Nexus recognition under the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation’s (MDEC) MD Location Recognition Framework.
The recognition, which is effective from 26 May 2026, applies to the building as a premises rather than automatically extending MD Status or related incentives to its tenants.
Under the MD Nexus framework, Exchange 106 is required to provide an environment that supports companies with MD Status, including access to resilient physical and information infrastructure in line with the MD Bill of Guarantees.
The building currently has around 90% international occupants, with financial services firms making up 25% of its tenant base and technology companies accounting for 24%.
Its digital and physical infrastructure includes dual independent fibre backbones with 2,158 single-mode fibre cores, dual-feed power supply, broadband access from four major providers and 5G-ready mobile coverage from four major carriers.
Exchange 106 Chief Executive Officer Faris Najhan Hashim said the recognition reflects the importance of maintaining reliable infrastructure and services for businesses operating from the building.

MDEC’s MD Nexus Performance Standards cover areas including digital infrastructure, electrical supply, business environment vibrancy and value proposition.
Among the requirements are broadband availability of at least 500Mbps for business customers and office tenants, 4G/5G coverage, service availability, resilient electrical supply, safety and security, client services and in-premises digital systems.
The framework also assesses the readiness of the premises and infrastructure, as well as stakeholder capabilities and the overall business environment.
However, tenants still need to separately meet MDEC’s eligibility, application and approval requirements to obtain MD Status and any related incentives.
