Crewstone, MBC Partner To Scale Over RM130 Million Malaysian Private Credit Platform

Crewstone International Sdn Bhd has entered into a strategic co-investment with Mirai Bridge Capital Sdn Bhd (MBC) through Thirty Three Digitec Solutions Sdn Bhd (Digitec), with an initial RM5 million commitment aimed at scaling a private credit platform that has facilitated more than RM130 million in financing.

Digitec operates as a non-bank financing platform supporting more than 30 KPKT-licensed money-lending partners. It currently serves around 83,000 borrowers and processes approximately 8,000 applications each month, mainly from gig economy workers, micro-entrepreneurs and borrowers with limited conventional credit histories.

The partnership combines Crewstone’s capital and private credit capabilities with MBC’s investment-management platform and Digitec’s operating infrastructure, including borrower data, credit assessment and repayment monitoring.

Digitec has recorded 40% year-on-year growth in digital acquisition and expects to expand its borrower footprint by around 40% over the next 12 to 18 months.

The platform has also increased automation across its lending process, with around 60% of applications currently processed end-to-end through its credit decisioning engine. Manual credit assessments that previously took two to three days have been reduced to around 30 minutes.

On collections, Digitec uses risk-based prioritisation and early-stage delinquency alerts to identify borrowers showing signs of repayment stress. The company said these measures have contributed to an approximately 700-basis-point year-on-year reduction in default rates.

“This partnership reflects Crewstone’s belief that in a market that is already competitive and becoming more so, the strongest outcomes will come from firms that know when to join forces and scale with intent,” said Keng Fai Wong, Chief Executive Officer of Crewstone International.

MBC Co-Founder Tommy Ng said the partnership could form the basis of a wider relationship between the two firms, while Digitec Director Ng Kae Shen said the initial commitment would strengthen the platform’s ability to scale its loan book and underwriting capabilities.
