Heavy Rain Expected In Most States

Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected across most states in Peninsular Malaysia and parts of Sarawak and Sabah this afternoon, according to a thunderstorm warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department at 1:50 pm on Wednesday (Sep 9).

The warning covers Perlis, Kedah and Penang, as well as several districts in Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Johor, along with Putrajaya.

In Perak, affected areas include Perak Tengah, Hilir Perak, Kerian, Selama, Larut Matang, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Bagan Datuk and Muallim. In Pahang, the warning applies to Raub, Bera, Rompin and Bentong.

Several parts of Selangor are also affected, including Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Sepang and Kuala Langat. In Negeri Sembilan, the affected districts are Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Jempol, while Kota Tinggi is affected in Johor.

In East Malaysia, the warning covers Lundu and Bau in Kuching and Belaga in Kapit, Sarawak. In Sabah, affected areas include Sipitang, Tenom, Sook, Pensiangan, Tambunan and Keningau in the Interior; Tongod and Telupid in Sandakan; and Ranau on the west coast.

The warning is in effect until 4 pm today.
