HUBLine Bhd has confirmed that its subsidiary Layang Layang Aerospace Sdn Bhd (LLA) operated the helicopter involved in the fatal crash at Long Lellang STOLport in Sarawak on Sept 8, which claimed the lives of the pilot and four Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel.
The company said the helicopter bearing registration 9M-LLF was operating a Flying Doctor Service (FDS) flight when it was involved in the accident. Five people, including the pilot, were on board.
Authorities subsequently confirmed that all five died in the crash, comprising the pilot and four MOH personnel — a medical officer, an assistant medical officer and two nurses who were on official duty.
HUBLine said LLA has activated its Emergency Response Plan and is working closely with the relevant authorities, including the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) under the Ministry of Transport.
“Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of everyone on board during this deeply distressing time,” the company said, adding that LLA was providing all possible assistance.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) earlier identified the aircraft as a BO-105 helicopter and said it received notification of the accident from the Flight Information Service at 3.58pm on Sept 8.
The AAIB will investigate the accident in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
