Dengue cases in Malaysia surged 66% to 65,979 as of epidemiological week 35 this year, up from 39,616 cases recorded during the same period in 2025.
Communications Minister and government spokesperson Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the sharp increase was highlighted during a Cabinet briefing on the latest dengue situation.
“The number of dengue-related deaths also rose significantly, with 62 fatalities recorded up to epidemiological week 35 in 2026, compared with 32 deaths in the same period last year, an increase of 93.8%,” he shared.
As part of efforts to curb the spread of dengue, he highlighted that the Housing and Local Government Ministry will carry out large-scale gotong-royong programmes over the coming months.
Fahmi said the activities would be intensified particularly in red zones and areas where outbreaks have been detected.
