Indonesia’s immigration authority has imposed a 10-year entry ban on an Australian national, identified by his initials BA, over an act of sexual indecency committed on a resident’s private property in Bali.
“This measure is intended to maintain order and security in relation to foreigners’ activities in Bali,” Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office Novyandri said in Badung District, Bali, on Wednesday.
He noted that the 28-year-old foreigner was involved in an obscene act in North Kuta, Badung, leading to his deportation to Brisbane, Australia.
“We will continue to strengthen immigration surveillance and closely coordinate with law enforcers,” Novyandri added, stressing that his office is committed to taking stern action on potential immigration violations in the future.
Immigration officers apprehended BA at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Aug. 25, as he was about to board a flight to Brisbane.
The capture was made possible by SIMKIM, an information and communication technology system designed to collect, process, and present relevant information to enhance immigration operations and decision-making processes.
Leveraging the system, the immigration office managed to track down and catch BA for questioning before handing him over to the Badung police.
Following an investigation, the police handed the foreigner back to the immigration office and proposed his deportation.
“The deportation was the result of good collaboration with the police on safeguarding order and security for foreign nationals residing or visiting Bali,” the official concluded.
CCTV footage from a residence in North Kuta, Badung, went viral on social media after capturing BA engaging in sexual intercourse in a yard on Aug. 21 at around 6:30 p.m. local time.
The police responded by locating the private property shown in the recording and launching a probe into the case.
