No area nationwide recorded hazardous air quality as of 9am on Wednesday, although Serian in Sarawak remained at a very unhealthy level with an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 214.
Data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) showed 10 other areas in Sarawak recording unhealthy readings, with Samarahan and Kuching registering 185 each, followed by Sarikei at 174 and Sri Aman at 173.
In Selangor, Johan Setia recorded the highest API at 164, followed by Shah Alam at 161, Banting at 156, Petaling Jaya and Klang at 153 each and Kuala Selangor at 151.
Several areas in Perak and the federal capital also recorded unhealthy air quality. Tasek Ipoh and Tanjung Malim registered 158 each, while Seri Manjung and Pegoh Ipoh recorded 152 and 144 respectively. Batu Muda recorded 170, Cheras 161 and Putrajaya 157.
Negeri Sembilan recorded unhealthy readings in Nilai at 159, Seremban at 154 and Port Dickson at 108, while Bukit Rambai in Melaka registered 155, Alor Gajah 152 and Bandaraya Melaka 103.
In Johor, Segamat recorded 155, Batu Pahat 153, Kluang 151 and Tangkak 142.
Overall, 29 areas recorded moderate air quality while four areas remained at good levels.
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and above 300 hazardous.
