Johor Leads Unhealthy API Readings As Batu Pahat Nears 200

Johor recorded the highest number of unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings this evening, with eight monitoring stations registering levels above 100, including Batu Pahat at 197, the highest reading nationwide as of 6:47 pm.

According to the Department of Environment’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), 31 of 68 monitoring stations were in the unhealthy category, defined as API readings between 101 and 200.

In Johor, Tangkak recorded an API of 172, followed by Segamat and Pasir Gudang at 171 each. Kluang registered 167, Larkin 166, Kota Tinggi 162 and Pengerang 161.

Negeri Sembilan recorded the next highest concentration of unhealthy readings, with Nilai at 175, Seremban at 172 and Port Dickson at 156.

Across Selangor, Johan Setia recorded 165, while Shah Alam registered 163. Petaling Jaya and Banting each recorded 159, followed by Klang at 155.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur recorded unhealthy readings at Cheras (164) and Batu Muda (161), while Putrajaya registered 168.

Elsewhere, Melaka recorded readings of 165 in Bandaraya Melaka, 159 in Bukit Rambai and 158 in Alor Gajah. In Pahang, Jerantut and Indera Mahkota Kuantan each registered 160, followed by Balok Baru Kuantan at 157 and Rompin and Temerloh at 152 each.

The unhealthy readings extended to Terengganu, where Paka recorded 157 and Kemaman 156. Tanjung Malim in Perak registered 144, while IPD Serian in Sarawak recorded 109.

Overall, 32 stations were classified as moderate and five as good. No stations recorded very unhealthy, hazardous or unavailable readings at the time of the update.
