Bermaz Auto Bhd reported a sharp improvement in earnings for the quarter ended July 31, 2026, with profit before tax surging 195% year-on-year to RM55.9 million, while profit after tax jumps 4-fold to RM41 million. The results were driven mainly by stronger sales from its Mazda operations and improved contributions from associated companies.
Quarterly revenue rose 12.6% to RM553.1 million, from RM491.3 million in the corresponding quarter a year earlier, representing an increase of RM61.8 million.
The automotive group attributed the stronger revenue primarily to higher sales volumes from its domestic Mazda operations, particularly the Mazda3, which continued to receive favourable consumer response.
The improvement was partly offset by lower sales from its domestic Kia operations following the cessation of the Kia distributorship in November 2025.
Bermaz Auto said its pre-tax profit increased by RM36.9 million from RM18.9 million in the corresponding quarter, supported by the higher Mazda sales volume.
However, this was partially offset by weaker profitability from the group’s Xpeng operations, which were affected by higher promotional activities during the quarter.
The group’s associated companies also contributed to the stronger bottom line, recording a share of net profits compared with a share of losses in the same quarter a year earlier.
The Board has approved and declared a first interim dividend of 2.00 sen single-tier dividend per share in respect of financial year ending 30 April 2027 to be payable on 4 November 2026 (previous year’s corresponding quarter ended 31 July 2025: 0.75 sen single-tier dividend per share). The entitlement date has been fixed on 20 October 2026.
