Sarawak continues to bear the brunt of haze, with 11 locations in the state recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9am on Sept 11.
According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System, IPD Serian posted the highest reading at 197, followed by Kuching at 181, Samarahan at 179 and Sri Aman at 172.
Other areas in Sarawak that remained in the unhealthy range were Sarikei at 163, Samalaju at 161, Sibu at 157, Mukah at 155, Bintulu at 153, and both Miri and ILP Miri at 147.
The poor air quality in Sarawak formed the bulk of the 14 unhealthy readings recorded nationwide. Outside the state, Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic in Sabah registered an API of 150, while Pasir Gudang in Johor recorded 109 and Labuan 103.
Across Malaysia, 49 areas recorded moderate air quality and five registered good readings.
Under the API classification, readings between 101 and 200 are considered unhealthy, while 201 to 300 are very unhealthy and anything above 300 is hazardous.
