Malaysia and Russia are strengthening strategic ties while exploring new opportunities for cooperation in the economy, trade and investment, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said.
He stated that these areas were among the key issues discussed during a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit.
According to Ramanan, the meeting also opened the way for wider economic and cross-sector cooperation as Malaysia seeks to expand its international economic and diplomatic networks.
He said stronger bilateral ties should translate into economic opportunities, quality investments and tangible benefits for the people.
Ramanan added that Malaysia would continue to pursue an open, pragmatic and principled foreign policy while maintaining relations with all countries based on mutual interests.
“Malaysia will continue to stand as a sovereign and respected nation, ready to cooperate with all parties based on national interests, peace and shared prosperity,” he said in a Facebook post.
