Nestle (M) Bhd and Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI) were among Bursa Malaysia’s biggest decliners, as selling pressure kept overall market breadth firmly negative with 764 losers against 421 gainers.
At the closing bell, MPI ended at RM40, while Nestle slipped to RM91.30 after both counters declined 70 sen. UWC Bhd was also among the hardest hit, dropping 34 sen to RM6.26, followed by Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd, which fell 32 sen to RM23.24, and UMS Integration Ltd, down 29 sen to RM8.01.
On the gainers’ board, Hong Leong Bank Bhd led with a 30 sen rise to RM23.38, while Hong Leong Industries Bhd gained 28 sen to RM17.
Hengyuan Refining Co Bhd added 21 sen to RM3.45, IOI Corp Bhd advanced 20 sen to RM4.93 and BLD Plantation Bhd rose 18 sen to RM15.
The broader market remained weak, with a further 498 counters unchanged, 1,157 were untraded and 26 were suspended.
Market turnover declined to 3.18 billion units worth RM2.79 billion, from 3.57 billion units valued at RM3.28 billion on Sept 11.
