Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session slightly higher on Sept 14, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gaining 0.42% as bargain hunting emerged in selected heavyweight stocks following a largely bearish performance last week.
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI rose 7.12 points to 1,693.86 from its close of 1,686.74 on Sept 11, after moving between 1,682.49 and 1,695.95 during the morning session.
The broader market, however, was mixed with the FBM Emas adding 24.54 points to 12,534.74, while the FBM 70 slipping 72.01 points, or 0.41%, to 17,656.63.
Market breadth remained weak despite the benchmark’s gains, with 659 decliners outpacing 367 advancers. Another 462 counters were unchanged, while 1,352 were untraded and 26 suspended.
Among the top decliners, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd fell 62 sen to RM40.08, while UWC Bhd declined 27 sen to RM6.33 and Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd eased 26 sen to RM8.20. UMS Integration Ltd and Sunway Construction Group Bhd also traded lower.
On the upside, Hong Leong Bank Bhd rose 30 sen to RM23.38, Hong Leong Industries Bhd added 24 sen to RM16.96, while Hengyuan Refining Co Bhd gained 21 sen to RM3.45. MISC Bhd advanced 15 sen to RM7.86.
Zetrix AI Bhd was the most actively traded counter, rising one sen to 26 sen, followed by Top Glove Corporation Bhd at 81 sen and AHB Holdings Bhd at 6.5 sen.
Total turnover stood at 1.93 billion shares worth RM1.31 billion by the midday break.
