Police Probe Negeri Sembilan MB’s Alleged Forced Signature

Police have opened an investigation into Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim’s claim that he was forced to sign a document related to a Proclamation Instrument.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the investigation is ongoing, with further developments to be shared with the media when available.

“The investigation paper has been opened and is still ongoing. If there is progress, as usual we will share it with our media friends,” he told reporters after attending the Home Ministry’s monthly assembly in Putrajaya today.

Ismail had reportedly claimed that he was pressured into signing the document before lodging a police report on Sept 8, prompting authorities to investigate the matter.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi previously said the claim should be verified by lawyers who were present during the signing process.

The UMNO president also said the party would not interfere in the matter and would fully respect the royal institution, laws and customs of Negeri Sembilan.
