Gap Looks To Paris For Its Latest Collaboration

Gap and A.P.C. are bringing their first joint collection to market this week. The 39-piece range combines Gap’s denim and casualwear with A.P.C.’s Parisian approach to everyday clothing.

Denim is at the centre of the collection. The lineup includes Gap’s High Rise Stride and Low Rise ’90s Loose jeans, along with new denim jackets and relaxed straight jeans. Select men’s styles use Japanese denim and are priced below US$200.

The collaboration extends beyond denim into tailoring, Oxford shirts, outerwear, knitwear and accessories. A sailor stripe runs through several pieces, while other designs use utility details, matching sets and dual-brand graphics.

The collection also includes cashmere, wool and corduroy. A reworked Gap arch logo appears on an Extra Heavyweight Hoodie and several accessories.

The two brands drew on their archives and the style of 1960s film, music and art when developing the collection. The campaign follows the same theme in a short film titled The Long Way, directed by Karl Cannone and shot in Paris’s Montmartre.

The film stars American rapper ian and French DJ Paloma Le Friant. It focuses on connections between New York and Paris, reflecting the two brands’ backgrounds.

The Gap × A.P.C. collection launches Sept. 18 on Gap’s website. It will also be sold at 10 select Gap stores in the U.S. and Canada and at A.P.C.’s Mercer Street store.

The collection will be available in several international markets, including the UK, Japan, Europe, China, Australia and the Middle East. Prices range from US$28 to US$328.
