Malaysian advanced-materials company Vertex Material said it has achieved a valuation of approximately US$7 billion and is targeting a Nasdaq listing in 2027 as part of a broader push to expand its manufacturing footprint into the United States.
The company, which develops copper-composite materials for industrial applications, said the valuation was determined in a report prepared by a Malaysian accounting firm.
Vertex Material is now planning to establish manufacturing operations in the US to support commercial-scale production, improve access to copper supply and bring production closer to its target customers.
The company said its technology combines copper with other composite materials to increase the amount of usable material produced from a given baseline of raw copper, positioning it to address growing demand amid tight global copper supply.
Vertex Material has already secured an offtake arrangement for 160,000 metric tonnes of product annually, which it said provides an important demand base for its expansion plans.
The company has established a pilot plant in Malaysia and is preparing to scale up production in the US, where it expects to benefit from proximity to large copper-producing markets across the Americas, including the US, Canada, Peru and Chile.
Founder and Technical Director Dato’ Tan Chin Tong said the immediate priority is execution rather than the proposed listing.
“The next phase is about execution. We need to demonstrate consistent product performance, expand manufacturing capacity and build a reliable supply chain around the customer demand we have secured,” he said.
Tan added that the proposed Nasdaq listing forms part of Vertex Material’s longer-term internationalisation strategy, while near-term efforts will remain focused on scaling the underlying business.
The company said further details on its proposed US manufacturing facility and 2027 capital-market plans will be announced once the respective frameworks are more clearly defined.
