PMO: Claims Of Cabinet Approving Financing For PLUS Highway Expansion Is Fake

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has rejected as fake a letter claiming that the Cabinet had approved a private financing initiative for the proposed widening of the PLUS Highway.

In a statement, the PMO said the letter, dated July 17, 2026, falsely claimed that Cabinet approval had been granted for a Private Finance Initiative proposal involving widening works on the highway.

The PMO stressed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had neither issued nor signed the letter, and denied any connection with the document or the purported approval.

It also urged the public not to be deceived by, circulate or share the fake document.

PMO said it has lodged a police report over the alleged document forgery and misuse of the Prime Minister’s name and the official identity of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Appropriate legal action will be taken against any party found to be involved, it added.
