Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session marginally lower on Sept 18 as cautious sentiment prevailed amid the US Federal Reserve’s hawkish stance, elevated US Treasury yields and persistent foreign selling.
At 12.30pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 1.53 points, or 0.09%, to 1,673.21 from its close of 1,674.74 on Sept 17.
The index traded between 1,671.95 and 1,677.83 during the morning session.
The broader market, however, ended the morning session in the positive territory as the FBM 70 gained 0.33% to 17,665.73, while the FBM Emas added 0.05% to 12,421.55. The FBM Shariah advanced 0.19% to 12,297.60.
The broader market also remained positive, with gainers outpacing losers 510 to 460. Another 496 counters were unchanged, while 1,400 were untraded and 22 suspended.
Among the top gainers, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd jumped RM2.46 to RM42.56, while Unisem (M) Bhd rose 30 sen to RM4.45. UMS Integration Ltd added 26 sen to RM8.39 and Pentamaster Corporation Bhd gained 23 sen to RM5.45.
Meanwhile, Petronas Dagangan Bhd led the decliners, falling 76 sen to RM20.32, followed by Nestlé (M) Bhd, which lost 48 sen to RM90.04. Hong Leong Bank Bhd shed 32 sen to RM22.78.
Zetrix AI Bhd was the most actively traded counter, slipping one sen to 23.5 sen, followed by FSBM Holdings Bhd at 7.5 sen and AirAsia X parent Capital A-related counters among the more actively traded names.
Overall market turnover stood at 2.01 billion shares valued at RM1.28 billion.
