Air quality remained unhealthy in 17 areas nationwide as of 8am today, with IPD Serian in Sarawak recording the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 182, according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
Shah Alam was the only area in Selangor to register unhealthy air quality, with an API reading of 153.
Other affected areas in Sarawak included Samarahan (168), Sri Aman (164), Bintulu and Sibu (153), and Sarikei (123).
In Johor, Larkin recorded an API reading of 162, followed by Pasir Gudang (155), Batu Pahat (154), Segamat (153), Tangkak (152) and Kota Tinggi (110).
Putrajaya and Nilai in Negeri Sembilan each recorded readings of 154, while Bukit Rambai and Bandaraya Melaka registered 110 and 107 respectively.
Meanwhile, 34 monitoring areas nationwide recorded moderate air quality, while five remained in the good category.
Under the API classification, readings of zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 hazardous.
