AirAsia Malaysia (AK) has successfully renewed its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), with the renewed certificate valid until Sept 30, 2029.
The renewal follows CAAM’s regulatory assessment of the airline’s continued compliance with commercial air transport requirements, allowing AirAsia Malaysia to maintain its flight operations as it expands and optimises its fleet and network.
AirAsia Malaysia remains the largest business within AirAsia Group, with additional aircraft expected to be deployed in the Malaysian market to strengthen its domestic and regional connectivity.
The airline is also transitioning towards a more efficient narrowbody fleet as part of its operational strategy.
AirAsia currently accounts for 61% of Malaysia’s domestic aviation capacity and 34% of flights at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The airline’s extensive network contributes to KLIA’s position as the world’s leading low-cost megahub, according to OAG’s 2026 Megahubs Index.
KLIA also ranks as the world’s fourth most connected international megahub and the most connected in Asia Pacific, reflecting its growing importance as a regional aviation hub.
