Gamuda Berhad has secured a AUD624 million (approximately RM1.8 billion) contract for a major road upgrade project in Western Sydney, Australia, through its 50:50 joint venture with Australian construction company B.M.D Constructions Pty Limited.
The group said Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) awarded the Elizabeth Drive Upgrade – Mamre Road Upgrade Stage 2 project to the Gamuda BMD Joint Venture (GBJV), comprising its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Gamuda Engineering Pty Ltd and BMD.
The contract forms part of a broader infrastructure development valued at approximately AUD2 billion, jointly funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments.
Under the joint venture arrangement, Gamuda holds an effective 50% participation in the contract, translating into expected revenue of AUD312 million, or approximately RM908 million, attributable to the group.
The design-and-construct contract covers the upgrading of 4.5 kilometres of Elizabeth Drive and three kilometres of Mamre Road at Kemps Creek in Western Sydney.
The scope includes civil and structural works, utility relocations and associated infrastructure improvements along the two major road corridors.
The project is scheduled to commence on Sept 21, 2026, with targeted completion in 2030.
The latest contract builds on Gamuda Engineering Australia’s existing portfolio of road infrastructure projects in the state, including the Coffs Harbour Bypass, M1 Pacific Motorway Extension from Black Hill to Tomago, and Richmond Road M7 Upgrade.
Its joint venture partner, BMD, is a privately owned Australian construction company established in 1979, with experience in major infrastructure projects spanning transport, water, rail, ports, resources and energy.
