The upgrading project for the Redline stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak is expected to be completed by early 2028.
The Works Ministry (KKR) said today the 17.1-kilometre project involves upgrading road pavement structures at nine locations in Lachau, Selangau, Balingian, Kemena, Sebiew and Tudan.
The project is aimed at upgrading existing routes that were not included in the initial implementation of the Pan Borneo Highway.
“Before the implementation of the project, about 87 per cent of the existing alignment was a two-lane single carriageway,” the ministry said in a statement.
The procurement process for the project has been completed, with the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) issuing the Letter of Acceptance to DAL-HCM Sdn Bhd on Aug 18, 2026.
KKR said it hoped the upgrading works would proceed smoothly according to the stipulated schedule and quality standards.
The ministry, together with JKR Sarawak, will continue to closely monitor the project to ensure the contractor complies with safety standards and the prescribed timeline.
