Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI) emerged as Bursa Malaysia’s top gainer, surging RM1.38 to RM44.58, while Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd topped the decliners after falling 50 sen to RM30.40.
Market breadth was almost even, with 549 losers against 519 gainers. A total of 577 counters were unchanged, 1,226 untraded and 27 suspended.
Other top gainers include Nestle (M) Bhd, which climbed 34 sen to RM89.50, KESM Industries Bhd gained 32 sen to RM4.33, Ayer Holdings Bhd rose 27 sen to RM7.47 and Petronas Gas Bhd added 22 sen to RM17.50.
Among the laggards, Heineken Malaysia Bhd dropped 42 sen to RM13.40, while Hong Leong Industries Bhd and United Plantations Bhd each fell 34 sen to RM16.72 and RM33.20, respectively. Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd declined 30 sen to RM12.30.
Turnover eased to 3.2 billion shares worth RM2.99 billion from 3.57 billion shares valued at RM3.15 billion on Sept 22.
