Singapore stocks opened lower on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index (STI) falling 0.47% or 26.94 points to 5,696.82 as of 9.09am.
Despite the decline in the benchmark, market breadth was positive with 140 gainers against 65 decliners. Trading volume stood at 79.82 million shares, with total turnover reaching S$208.65 million.
Among the blue chips, DBS fell 0.94% to S$77.07 while Yangzijiang Shipbuilding traded at S$5.33. OCBC Bank was up at S$31.63 and UOB rose to S$42.53.
Singtel traded at S$4.33, while AEM gained to S$10.47 and Frencken rose to S$2.67.
REITs were mixed in early trade. CapitaLand Ascendas REIT was unchanged at S$2.31, while CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust fell to S$2.25. Keppel DC REIT rose to S$2.14 and Mapletree Logistics Trust traded at S$1.12.
In derivatives, FTSE China A50 Index futures stood at 14,654 as of 8.52am, while Nikkei 225 Index futures rose to 66,700.
SGX FTSE Taiwan Index futures traded at 4,291.50, while MSCI Singapore Index futures stood at 532.75.
The STI tracks the performance of the 30 largest companies listed on the Singapore Exchange by market capitalisation.
