Bursa Rebounds At Midday As Heavyweight Buying Lifts KLCI

Bursa Malaysia recovered from earlier weakness to end the morning session slightly higher on Sept 24, supported by buying in selected heavyweights led by transportation and logistics, industrial products and healthcare counters.

At 12.30pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 1.29 points to 1,677.72 from its previous day closing of 1,676.43. The benchmark moved between 1,671.48 and 1,679.47 during the morning session.

Broader indices performance was mixed, with the FBM 70 falling 53.57 points to 17,780.23, while the F4GBM eased 0.53 of a point to 1,011.54. The FBM Emas slipped 3.10 points to 12,474.25, while the FBM Shariah edged down 0.45 of a point to 12,319.77.

Despite the FBM KLCI’s rebound, market breadth remained negative, with losers outpacing gainers 586 to 374. A total of 490 counters were unchanged, 1,451 were untraded and 27 suspended.

Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd led the decliners, falling 96 sen to RM43.62, followed by Petronas Gas Bhd, which shed 22 sen to RM17.28, while Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd lost 20 sen to RM30.20.

MI Technovation Bhd also declined 20 sen to RM5.93, while Unisem (M) Bhd slipped 16 sen to RM4.58.

On the upside, Nestlé (M) Bhd topped the gainers’ list, surging RM2.14 to RM91.64.

Other top gainers include MISC Bhd, which gained 21 sen to RM7.98, while Ajinomoto (M) Bhd and UMS Integration Ltd added 20 sen each to RM19.46 and RM8.60, respectively. MNRB Bhd rose 11 sen to RM2.94.

Meanwhile, Zetrix AI Bhd was the most actively traded counter, with 210.84 million shares changing hands. The stock eased half a sen to 18 sen after trading between 17 sen and 18.5 sen.

AIMAX Bhd was next with 116.56 million shares traded, gaining half a sen to 1.5 sen.

VS Industry Bhd fell one sen to 24 sen on 32.91 million shares, while NexG Bhd gained three sen to 29.5 sen with 31.72 million shares traded.

Computer Forms (M) Bhd rounded out the five most active counters, adding half a sen to 9.5 sen on 25.75 million shares.

Turnover stood at 1.83 billion units worth RM1.16 billion.
