The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting on Oct 7 to determine key dates and preparations for the Melaka state election following the dissolution of the state assembly.
EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said the meeting, to be chaired by EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun, will discuss the election writ, nomination day, polling day, the electoral roll to be used and other preparations.
A press conference will be held immediately after the meeting to announce the outcome.
The meeting follows the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly on Sept 23, paving the way for the state election.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh had announced a day earlier that the assembly would be dissolved after receiving the consent of Melaka Governor Tun Mohd Ali Rustam.
The previous Melaka state election was held on Nov 20, 2021.
