Samsung Commits US$1 Billion To KKR-Backed AI Infrastructure

Samsung Electronics has committed US$1 billion through its capital fund to support the global artificial intelligence infrastructure buildout of KKR-backed Helix Digital.

The commitment adds to more than US$10 billion in capital already committed to Helix’s strategy, according to the AI infrastructure company.

Helix focuses on developing and managing infrastructure needed for AI computing, including hyperscale data centres, power generation and transmission, fibre networks and connectivity assets.

The company said it expects to combine Nvidia’s full-stack technology with Samsung’s technology and energy storage capabilities to accelerate the development and delivery of AI infrastructure.

Helix’s anchor investors include KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority and Nvidia.

The investment comes as demand for AI computing capacity drives a major expansion in data centres and supporting power infrastructure globally.
