A total of 20 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 4.30pm, with Johan Setia in Selangor registering the highest level at 166.
According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System, four other locations in Selangor were also in the unhealthy range: Shah Alam at 164, Klang (158), Petaling Jaya (155) and Banting (143).
In Kuala Lumpur, Cheras recorded an API of 162 while Batu Muda stood at 160, with Putrajaya at 157.
Johor had five affected areas, namely Pasir Gudang at 164, Larkin (162), Kota Tinggi (155), Pengerang (152) and Kluang (110). In Negeri Sembilan, Nilai recorded 161 and Seremban at 153.
Elsewhere, Balok Baru and Indera Mahkota in Pahang both registered 156, followed by Kuala Terengganu at 154, Bandaraya Melaka at 125 and Kota Bharu at 103.
Meanwhile, 45 areas recorded moderate air quality, while only three remained in the good category.
Under the API classification, readings of 0-50 are considered good, 51-100 moderate, 101-200 unhealthy, 201-300 very unhealthy and above 300 hazardous.
