AmanahRaya Trustees Bhd, as trustee for Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB), disposed of 13 million shares in Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) on Sept 29, 2026.
In a filing, Maybank said the disposal was made through a sale of shares and involved ASB’s direct interest in the banking group.
Following the transaction, ASB’s direct shareholding in Maybank stood at 3.418 billion shares, representing 28.261% of the bank’s issued shares.
The notice of the change in substantial shareholding was dated Sept 29 and received by Maybank on Oct 1.
Maybank shares closed lower at 9.95, the stock has come down 14% over the last 6 months.
